We exist to support women in their journey with ovarian cancer.
Our mission is to provide financial and emotional assistance to women diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
On June 30, 2015, Holly went into surgery for a pelvic mass that was found on ultrasound the day before. During the surgery, the tumor was successfully removed and the initial pathology showed that the tumor was not cancerous. On July 9, 2015, Holly got the call that no one ever wants to get. The tumor was indeed cancer. Stage 1C Immature Teratoma, a very rare form of ovarian cancer. She started chemotherapy in late July and finished cancer-free on September 29, 2015.
After completing treatment for ovarian cancer, Holly felt the Lord calling her to help other women walking a similar path. She started giving care bags for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In 2016, Holly founded the Team Holly Foundation in efforts to help women undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer. In almost 4 years, this foundation has supported over 600 women in Texas diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
In May of 2020, the foundation took on a new name but has continued the same mission. Part of Holly's journey after cancer included the adoption of their son Reid, who has a severe form of congenital heart disease. Through cancer and this adoption journey, the Lord taught Holly the true meaning of having joy in suffering. This foundation is about so much more than chemo bags. Holly truly wants to encourage and share with women that it is possible to have joy in suffering. It was only natural that the foundation be renamed the Teal Hearts Foundation as a representation of the Lord's faithfulness in Holly's life that she wants to share with her teal sisters.
